Cello Repertoire

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CELLISTS ­ CELEBRATION 2015

General Info
  • Teachers wear all black
  • Students wear black pants/skirt and white shirt
  • No rock­stops are needed since the surface is carpeted
  • Students need to label cases, instruments and bows
  • If your chair is shorter than an a standard orchestra chair, please bring your own.
  • Teachers and Volunteers, look for and fill out the Volunteer Google Form so we have your information.
  • Teachers ­ send your list of Parent Volunteers to contact Shelli Boynton. * Parents cannot be admitted backstage as a parent volunteer unless they are on her list.

9/12 Rehearsal at Conference Center

Note: for cellists 8 and up or a substitute can be sent if they are able to stay the entire time.

  • 10:15 Teachers Arrive. Park in conf. center parking. Meet at Stage Door in Parking Garage (which is on parking level 3, or P3, next to post J6). Teachers discuss logistics, help Richard unload small chairs, and go in to arrange chairs for students.
  • 11:15 Parent Volunteers assigned to this time arrive
  • 11:30 Students Arrive. Parent helpers check them in, guide them backstage. Teachers tune students backstage and guide them onstage.
  • 12:00 rehearsal of just cello pieces (Allegro, Musette, Twinklebell Cannon)
  • 12:30 end cello rehearsal
  • 12:30 ­-1:30 rehearsal of group pieces (Where Love is Deep, Thank You Dr. Suzuki)
  • 1:30 ­-1:45 Meeting with cello students, and teachers to discuss how the older students will be matched with younger students to help guide into and out of backstage Conference Center at evening concert.
  • 1:45 Parent Volunteers wait at Stage Door in Parking Garage and match students with parents. Students wait at Stage Door in Parking Garage for parents. Parents walk to Stage Door in Parking Garage through garage to get students to then walk to their car (do not drive to get students. Traffic flow purposes)
9/19 Rehearsals and Concert on Celebration day

Teachers: If you are sending two or more students to Celebration, your attendance is expected, or a substitute can be sent if they are able to stay the entire time.

  • 10:30 Teachers Arrive. Park in conf. center parking. Meet at Stage Door in Parking Garage (which is on parking level 3, or P3, next to post J6). Go in to arrange chairs for students.
  • 11:30 Parent Volunteers assigned to this time arrive.
  • 11:45 Students Arrive. This is a rehearsal for all cellists.
    • Parent helpers check them in, older students guide younger student “buddy” backstage.
    • Teachers tune students backstage and guide them onstage.
  • 12:20 Rehearsal of just cello pieces
  • 12:50 End Cello Rehearsal
  • 1:00 Parent Volunteers help connect students with parents at Stage Door in Parking Garage. Students wait at Stage Door in Parking Garage for parents. Parents walk to Stage Door in Parking Garage through garage to get students to then walk to their car (do not drive to get students. Traffic flow purposes)
  • BREAK
  • 3:15 Parent Volunteers Arrive to check in and greet students.
  • 3:30 Students Arrive for rehearsal of Thank You Dr. Suzuki and Where Love is Deep.
    • If you have learned the cello part, this is a mandatory rehearsal.
    • If you are singing, you are invited to join.
  • 4:00-­5:30 Rehearsal of Where Love is Deep, Twinkles, and Thank You Dr. Suzuki.
  • 5:30-­6:30 Dinner break. Students should have sack dinner. They will eat backstage near cases. Parent volunteers will be there with students.
  • 6:00 All cellists start to Arrive. Parent volunteers are at Stage Door in Parking Garage to check in cellists. Older cellists are going from back stage case area to Stage Door to be matched up with a younger cellist to bring them back stage to unpack and then on stage.  Teachers are back stage tuning, and on stage guiding cellists to seats.
  • 7:00 Concert Starts.
  • 9:00 Concert is over. All cellists go backstage. Older students find younger student they were matched up with to help them pack and take them back to Stage Door.
  • 9:15-10:00 Parent Volunteers wait at Stage Door in Parking Garage and match students with parents. Students wait at Stage Door in Parking Garage for parents.
    • Parents walk to Stage Door in Parking Garage through garage to get students to then walk to their car (do not drive to get students. Traffic flow purposes)
