I have over 50 years of violin experience, both as a student, a Suzuki parent and a Suzuki teacher. I attended BYU on a violin scholarship. After starting my family, I chose to place my violin career on hold while raising my family. I chose to pursue my teaching career again about 20 years ago. I have one daughter, Nicole, and three sons, Derek, Miles, and Gavin. All of my children are accomplished violinists, as well as playing other instruments. My children studied with the late Hiroko Primrose, who studied with Dr. Suzuki while in Japan. As such, I have extensive experience in being a Suzuki parent, encouraging sometimes unwilling children to practice. I continue to further my education by attending Teacher Training and Enrichment workshops throughout the year. In additon to my studio, I run the Suzuki Violin program at the Sorensen Academy of Arts and Sciences in Mapleton. Additionally, I have 17 grandchildren including 1 cellist, 2 violists, 11 violinists, and 5 pianists.
