Regions

SAU uses the term "Regions" to describe different areas for the individual instrument groups. This is how you can search for teachers or colleagues near you, and this is usually the division for regional activities.

In some cases, the instrument group will cover the entire state. These are the instruments in this category:

  • Bass
  • Early Childhood Education
  • French Horn
  • Guitar
  • Harp
  • Trumpet
  • Viola
  • Voice

Some instrument groups have been divided into smaller areas or Regions.

 

Cello

Cello North: The region encompasses the entire northern part of the state down through the bottom of Utah County. Counties: Box Elder, Cache, Daggett, Davis, Duchesne, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele, Unitah, Utah, Wasatch, Weber

Cello Southern Utah: This is everything south of Utah County. Counties: Beaver, Carbon, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Piute, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Washington, Wayne

Piano

Piano Utah North: All areas north of Salt Lake fall into Piano Utah North. Counties: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Rich, Weber

Piano Salt Lake: The Salt Lake region encompasses the county of Salt Lake as well as cities east and west. Counties: Daggett, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele

Piano Utah South: This region starts with Utah County and includes everything farther south. Counties: Beaver, Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Piute, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Unitah, Utah, Wasatch, Washington, Wayne

 

Violin

Violin Northern Utah: This region is all areas north of Salt Lake City. Counties: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Rich, Weber

Violin Salt Lake: The Salt Lake region encompasses Salt Lake and areas east/west of it. Counties: Daggett, Duchesne, Morgan, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele, Uintah

Violin Southern Utah: This is everything south of Utah County. Counties: Beaver, Carbon, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Piute, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Washington, Wayne

Violin Utah County: Utah County and areas directly around it fall into this region. Counties: Utah, Wasatch
