About Teacher

I studied the Suzuki method on both piano and violin starting as a child. In high school I won numerous NFMC scholarships, attended many music camps, including Interlochen Music camp, and won solo competitions to perform with the the local youth symphony. During high school I became a member of the Boise Philharmonic, and after graduating college, joined them again. My husband says my claim to fame was being hired to play back-up for the Moody Blues and Led Zepplen :). I Graduated from Brigham Young University in 1994 with a Bachelor Degree in Violin Performance/Pedagogy, where I studied under Barbara Williams and Nell Gotkovsky. I also have the privilege of being a mother to three wonderful, musical kids, ages 17,21 and 25. I can relate to Suzuki parents, because I am one, and I know what its like to be in the trenches with kids on a musical and character building journey. I have been teaching for over 30 years. My mother was a Suzuki violin teacher and gave me the opportunity to apprentice by teaching her students during the summer breaks, starting at age 14. I also attended the teachers training at the Idaho Suzuki Institute starting at age 14, and I have been a faculty member of the Idaho Suzuki Institute off and on for the last 20 years. There I have had the privilege of training with many incredible teacher trainers: Cathy Lee, Yuko Honda, Kathleen Spring, Ronda Cole, Mihoko Hirata, Ellie LaRoux, and Jacqueline Maurer. Most of my courses were taken as an auditor, so that I could also be a faculty member at the Institute. However, in the last several years, I finally decided to start registering my courses
