Maren Laurence earned her Master’s Degree with merit from The Royal Academy of Music in Harp Performance in London studying under Karen Vaughan, former principal harpist of the London Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor's Degree with honors from the University of Michigan studying under Joan Holland, including a half year of study at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands studying under Erika Waardenburg.
Maren’s passion and joy is teaching students. As a teacher, Maren’s students range from young beginners to advanced students. Maren’s teaching style incorporates techniques, drills, and traditions from many schools of training thanks to her varied background. Maren is a Suzuki-trained harp teacher, with training from Mary Kay Waddington, author of the Suzuki harp method. Maren maintains a private studio of students in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her students frequently perform in youth ensemble groups and student orchestras and she looks forward to her annual harp ensemble performances with her students.
Maren is currently the Suzuki Association of Utah Vice President for Harp. Maren is involved with several service groups and does volunteer work with her harp. She is also the former president of Sigma Alpha Iota, a musical organization dedicated to musical outreach and service in the community.
