About Teacher

Marsali Hancock began studying the violin at the age of four.  She graduated with a degree in violin performance from BYU. She was concertmaster of the Mormon Youth Symphony, then a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, Lexington Philharmonic, and Bach Ensemble. In 1998, she co-founded the Mountain West String Academy in Cache Valley. In 2007, while living in the Washington DC area, she was a founding board member of the Washington DC Temple Orchestra. Before returning to Utah, Marsali served as a Stanford University Distinguished Visiting Scholar, addressing cyber safety, security, and ethics, particularly for children. In 2022, she was a founding board member of the Cache Youth Orchestra. She lives near Logan, Utah, where she continues her data privacy and security work and participates in the newly organized Cache Valley Suzuki Association of Utah.

Marsali received her Suzuki training in Lexington, Kentucky, and at the Jacobs School of Music Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers, Indiana University Bloomington, with Mimi Zweig in 2021 and 2022.
